[There's a moment before he speaks again. Czeslaw's tone is clear, his voice is easily audible through the door, and he sounds alert. This can really only mean one thing and Maiza hesitates, having gotten used to getting the child out of bed every morning for a month. The past few weeks had been nostalgic for him, and he has to remind himself that this here is reality before he comes face to face with Czes.]

... Good morning. Do you mind if I come in?

[He's relieved that Czeslaw is back to the way he was. That much he knows is true. He would miss the bright smiles and being allowed to pick him up, but Czeslaw is Czeslaw. He missed the snarky friend he could treat as an equal this month, too. He missed the shared experience he had with Czes, no matter how terrible and bitter it was. (Was that selfish of him?)]

[He takes note of the hesitation before Maiza speaks again and knows that he's now aware that he's back to normal. Is he disappointed? It's possible. Who wouldn't want gullible, cheerful Czes? Because he knows that he sometimes wishes he could go back to being that happy.

He's quiet for a moment, running a hand through his hair frustratedly before speaking up again]

You can come in.

Excuse me, then.

[And he opens the door, stepping inside. He can confirm with just a glance that this Czes is the Czes he met in New York.]

Breakfast is ready if you want some. How're you feeling?

Well enough, I guess. [You know, aside from the being annoyed part. But he moves the covers and slides his legs off the bed to stand up]

What's for breakfast?

I made some toast. Is there anything else you want to eat?

[devourthemfirst]

Some eggs, if that's all right. [He glances at the train set that's off to the side in his room, sighs at it and walks out ahead of Maiza.

Dammit Malnosso they did that on purpose]

Eggs are perfectly fine. How do you want them?

[He closes Czes' door behind him and follows, watching the boy quietly.]

Sunny-side up, please. [Just gonna keep walkin right towards the kitchennnn... ]

[contaeoro]

[He stares after him for a while, stops in his steps.]

Hey Czeslaw.

[devourthemfirst]

[He stops once he's called and turns to look back]

Yes?

[contaeoro]

[He observes his friend for a moment, silent. Then he smiles once more and catches up to him with a pat on his shoulder.]

It's good to have you back.

[devourthemfirst]

[Czes doesn't smile in return and only looks back at the hall in front of him]

I wonder. [Because he isn't even happy to be back--to have all of his memories haunting him and paranoia controlling his every move. And he can remember Maiza and how happy he was to have such an innocent and smiling Czes around. Who wouldn't be happy to have that Czes around?

He would.]

[His eyebrows rise slightly, and he tenses just a bit. He had been expecting that doubt from Czeslaw, but when it's thrown in his face like this it's hard to react to.]

... Czeslaw.

[devourthemfirst]

[Sorry Maiza, he's not in the best of moods.

He stares ahead for a moment longer before finally moving to walk towards the kitchen again. There's no apology or anything more said from him on that subject, instead he just goes back to the original topic.] Let's just go eat.

[contaeoro]

[Yeah he can tell.

He sighs, and nods at Czeslaw's retreating back for a moment before following again.] All right.

[Once in the kitchen, he walks over to the fridge and pulls out the eggs and some milk to pour himself a glass to go with his toast and egg.]

[Czeslaw's breakfast is set on the table, at his usual spot. Maiza has made himself a cup of coffee to drink, too, having already eaten, but he doesn't get that before he turns to Czes.]
